JOB DESCRIPTION
Seeking an Enterprise Network Architect that will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and evolving the network and connectivity domain architectures and solutions across our client's executive branch network. Key responsibilities include conceiving, planning, designing, and growing the network architecture. The incumbent of this position will monitor the network and perform modeling to assess future needs, as well as assist other departments as a senior advisor and helper. The successful candidate will analyze business requirements to develop technical network framework solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT professional to join an exceptionally skilled team and contribute to critical statewide initiatives.
Applicants for the Enterprise Network Architect position will need to include with their application - three (3) high-level design documents that they have created from previous projects.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with Business Analysts, Network Engineers, Applications Developers, and Security Analysts to create detailed requirements specifying the functional architecture of the system.
- Review solution requirements for reasonability and conformance to Commonwealth Standard Operating Environment.
- Planning and designing data communication networks, including but not limited to LAN, WAN, Wireless, Fiber and VOIP for multi-site on-premises datacenters, multi-cloud cloud environments, and SaaS offerings.
- Overseeing network implementation including advising on schedules, budgets, security implementation details and hardware and maintenance upgrades.
- Creating network documentation consisting of description and diagrams (both high level and low level) concerning architecture as well as as-built implementation documentation.
- Work with client value add resellers on the architecture solutions.
- Remain informed of industry trends and technologies to support evolving business requirements.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum (3) three years of network engineering and network architecture related experience with in-depth exposure in designing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting complex networks within a large enterprise environment. Five (5) years of experience preferred.
- Experience preparing presentations concerning architecture proposals, network design and implementation plans to senior management, internal customers, and staff.
- Experience configuring L2, L3, Firewalls, Wireless, VOIP, DNS, DHCP systems.
- Extensive knowledge of site-to-site VPN tunnels for connectivity and related designs.
- Familiarity with DWDM, SDN, IPSEC, Public Cloud Architecture and Implementation (AWS, AZURE, GCP).
- Extensive knowledge of routing with BGP and OSPF.
- Proficient experience and hands-on knowledge with the following skillsets:
- Visio
- Wireshark
- SolarWinds
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office and O365 products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Skype, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and VPN.
- Ability to assist in change management and problem management processes as the business needs arise.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail
- Ability to work calmly and constructively under pressure and meet deadlines; the ability to manage and keep track of multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Juniper Network Certifications (JNCIA or JNCIE) preferred, but not required.
