About the Department:
Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, development, implementation, integration, operation, enhancement, maintenance and configuration management of the University's enterprise business applications, data warehouses, business intelligence/analytics platforms, and databases. Supported enterprise administrative systems and associated databases include: the Financial, HR, and Student Information Systems; MyPack Portal; the non-credit education system; business intelligence platforms; and the research administration system.

Essential Job Duties:
Enterprise Application Services (EAS) in the Office of Information Technology seeks an Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect and Development Lead. This position leads the technical design, development, implementation, enhancement, and operation of the University's centralized repository of enterprise data assets. The position is responsible for designing and maintaining an efficient and scalable enterprise data warehouse solution that enables business intelligence and analytics solutions that provide actionable data to campus. The Data Warehouse Architect partners with various stakeholders, business leaders, enterprise application developers, data analysts, and BI content developers to ensure that the data warehouse provides the foundation needed for data-driven decision-making across the University. Hybrid remote and on-site work location options are available.

- Proven experience leading data warehouse implementations in a Data Warehouse Architect role with demonstrably successful results
- Expertise in data warehouse design concepts, data modeling, and ETL
- Expertise in managing a Software Development Lifecycle in a complex environment
- Expertise in RDBMS, SQL, database design principles
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and evaluative skills with an ability to resolve complex, difficult technical issues at the macro level
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical subjects including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Experience as a lead and/or senior member of a data warehouse team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience designing and building data warehouses in a higher education environment, including familiarity with data structures specific to the academic and administrative operations of a large research university
- Extensive experience with Oracle database design and development, particularly in a warehouse or data mart context, and SQL, PL/SQL
- Experience with Oracle ETL and data management tools such as Oracle Data Integrator, Goldengate
- Knowledge of Oracle database performance optimization for warehouses
- Experience designing and building data warehouses, data pipelines, and ETL procedures on a variety of platforms and toolsets with particular preference for experience with SAS 9.4 as well as popular cloud data warehouses such as Redshift, Azure-Fabric, Snowflake, and/or Databricks.
- Thorough knowledge of analytics platforms and data visualization toolsets, such as Power BI, Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics, etc., sufficient to understand how they consume and use data from warehouses/marts
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, and data analysis and manipulation languages like SAS, PL/SQL and DAX
- Certification(s) in Data Architecture, Big Data, Data Engineering, Integrations, and other relevant technologies
- Experience working in agile project management environments
