About the Job
General Experience Expectations:
Gain a detailed understanding of the Technology Restoration Plan project scope directly after onboarding;
Work closely with the Chief of the Project Management Office (PMO), Program Manager, and vendors associated with the project;
Create the technical architecture documents of all the interacting applications in the current integrated solutions that illustrate the current applications, interfaces, and information flow in place;
Document the current architectural standards followed by the mainframe, web, and mobile solutions currently in place;
Create the architectural standards for the technologies to be used in the to-be solutions for the Florida Department of Corrections (Department) infrastructure and security requirement compliance;
Enforce the Department's enterprise architecture models, representations, capabilities, and components to meet the business and technology activities; and
Validate if the proposed technical solutions meet the Department's requirements.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in IT or other related or four (4) years of equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable.
The Department requires the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
- Five (5) years of experience in participating in the architecting complex IT systems;
- Five (5) years of experience with technical design using analytical skills;
- Five (5) years of experience on technical teams in large-scale projects with components of infrastructure improvements and software development;
- Five (5) years of experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC);
- Five (5) years of experience in building integrations between applications on different hardware platforms;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills;
- Strong leadership and motivational skills; and
- Experience in modeling and graphical representations.
NOTE: In addition to the above list, the selected Candidate must successfully complete a Level II Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications:
The Department prefers the Candidate to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position:
- Experience in modernizing & migrating mainframe applications from legacy systems;
- Experience in architecting optimal solutions for migrating applications to the cloud, preferably Azure or Amazon Web Services;
- Experience in containerization of applications; and
- Building application integrations using Application Programming Interfaces.
Scope of Work/Job Characteristics:
The Enterprise Architect will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Serve as the technical liaison between the Department business users and contracted service vendors;
Provide hands-on leadership for the design of re-engineered processes;
Provide periodic reports to internal and external stakeholders regarding the compliance of new solutions and processes with enterprise architecture standards;
Maintain all technical architectural artifacts in a shared repository with documented version history;
Participate in business requirements gathering sessions;
Lead the development of business process improvements, making recommendations based on enterprise architecture standards; and
Work independently as a part of a larger cross-functional team.
