Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer orientated Engineering Technician: Technical Writer to join our team supporting Norfolk Naval Shipyard. This position will work from an office at NNSY in Portsmouth, VA.
Job Summary:
+ The Mechanical Engineering Technical Writer position requires the application of engineering knowledge and experience to support the Hull, Mechanical and Electrical Technical codes at Norfolk Naval Shipyard with the preparation of Technical Working Documents (TWD) such as: Job Summaries, Task Group Instructions (TGI's), and Deficiency Forms (DF's).
+ The position will require the use of Advance Industrial Management (AIM), Advance Industrial Management Support System (ATIS), Technical Information Manual (TIM), HAYSTACK GOLD, Industrial Process Instruction (IPI), NNSY Documents, Computer Industrial Technical Information System (CITIS), Conversion Liaison Instruction (CVLI's), Maintenance Standards, Tech Manuals, Current Ship's Maintenance Project (CSMP's), and Microsoft office.
+ Other tasks will include the following: ordering materials, services and rental equipment for ongoing and upcoming availabilities, ship checking for interferences, developing estimates and the preparation and issuance of technical working documents.
Basic Requirements:
+ A minimum of six (6) years of practical design engineering experience OR six (6) years of practical field engineering experience, providing problem analysis and resolution including system and components, at a professional level in responsible design engineering duties.
+ A minimum of five (5) years of consecutive practical design experience or practical field engineering experience for construction, conversion, or modernization of U.S. Naval Ships (does not include maritime ship design). This experience may have been gained concurrently with the practical design or field engineering experience listed above.
+ High school, trade, industrial, or correspondence school required: credits must have been received in the following: Algebra, Plane Geometry, Trigonometry, Drafting, and Physics
+ A minimum of five (5) years of CVN experience concurrently with above
Desired Requirements:
+ 10 (10) years of practical design engineering experience OR 10 (10) years of practical field or Naval engineering experience, providing problem analysis and resolution including system and components, at a professional level in responsible design engineering duties.
Security Requirements:
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen
+ Must have an active Secret Clearance
+ Able to obtain CAC, NAVSEA badge and NMCI account
Physical Requirements:
+ Operate and manipulate Typical Office equipment.
+ Be able to communicate professionally with ManTech employees and ManTech clients
+ Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
+ Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual.
