The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Southcoast Region Construction is looking for an Engineering Technician, Journey in Ketchikan to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
Under the direct supervision of a Construction Project Manager, and general direction of a Project Engineer, you will serve as a; construction inspector, office engineer, or materials testing technician, performing sub-professional engineering work in the field or in an office.

Southcoast Region’s projects are constructed within a picturesque landscape of temperate maritime rainforests on steep-sided mountains capped with ice fields and abundant glaciers in southeast Alaska to a chain of wind-swept grassy volcanic islands in southwest Alaska. Projects varying in size and scope from small, low-dollar-value projects to large and complex multimillion-dollar projects.
The position’s work occurs in in our Ketchikan office and in the field on multiple projects during the summer construction season. You’ll work in a collaborative environment with a small team of experienced and supportive colleagues that will help you develop and gain experience.

- Decisiveness: Aptitude toward producing definitive results, e.g., ensure materials testing is performed correctly and test results adequately represent the material.
- Integrity: Being honest and trustworthy despite perceived repercussions, e.g., communicating to project staff and teammates when an error is discovered in a test’s performance.
- This position requires a valid State of Alaska driver's license.
