Position Description
The Engineering Technician Intern works within the engineering teams assisting with: data collection and analysis, development and implementation of optimal cost-effective parts, manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards, testing and validation of parts. Must be able to work with a team as well as independently with minimal supervision, balance workload with multiple priorities, and take multiple paths to resolve issues, including using own technical skills.
Job Responsibilities, Duties & Functions
- Assist with process improvement and problem resolution.
- Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assist with engineering changes and take appropriate measures to ensure all product documentation for the affected operations (methods, BOMs, test procedures, etc.) are updated to support the change prior to release to production.
- Capture live data and analyze to find critical information.
- Assist with manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs and entering data.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Strong interest in engineering
- Fabrication/Manufacturing experience preferred
- Conceptual skills
- Quality focus
- Process improvement focus required
- Six Sigma experience strongly preferred
