Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Civil Engineering Technician II for a FULL-TIME assignment with one of our premier Utility clients in San Jose, CA. Under the general direction of the Engineer Supervisor, the Engineering Technician II is responsible for the development of construction-related documents and drawings. Role will include activities related to survey, civil engineering, estimation and construction.

Responsibilities :
- Development and CAD drafting of construction plans for potable water pipeline installation projects in the public right of way.
- Basic civil engineering calculations via excel spreadsheets and calculators.
- Field related activities related to survey and construction (i.e. construction monitoring, field measurements, etc.).
- Project coordination with permit agencies/municipalities, inter-department teams, and contractors.
- Utility mapping and research.
- Processing and review of post-construction record drawings.
- Cost estimating for construction projects using Excel spreadsheets.
- Prepare construction documents (contracts, permits, project release).

Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade and two years' experience in engineering office or field work; or
- Equivalent to completion of one year of college; and one year experience in engineering office or field work; or
- Equivalent to completion of three years' of college with courses in engineering and pre-engineering.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:
- Useful and proficient knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Knowledgeable and capable in the use of personal computers, including typical office software (i.e. word documents, spreadsheets, databases and other software employed by the company).
- Physically able and willing to perform outdoor field related duties.
- Knowledgeable in basic Survey and Civil Engineering practices and San Jose Water Distribution System.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Beneficial to Have Candidates exhibiting the following characteristics will be considered especially suited to this role:
- Experience with: survey work and practices, land development, architectural drafting, construction drafting, construction estimating, utility research and San Jose Water distribution system.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, team player with ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Job involves a lot of team collaboration within Engineering Department and collaboration with other Departments, regulatory agencies, contractors, etc., so interpersonal skills are critical.
