Job Overview:
Nikkiso ACD is an engineering and manufacturing company specializing in machinery designed to operate at cryogenic temperatures as low as – 420 degrees Fahrenheit, the boiling point of Liquid hydrogen. For over 50 years, Nikkiso ACD has specialized in centrifugal and reciprocating pumps as well as turbines for air separation. Nikkiso ACD has the most diversified product line in the industry covering nearly every application requiring pumps or turboexpanders.
This position is based at Nikkiso ACD located in Santa Ana, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and guide the technology strategy, goals, and business capture for centrifugal and reciprocating cryogenic pumps at Nikkiso ACD.
- Advise on multiple projects, sharing expertise to enhance Nikkiso's competitive advantage.
- Collaborate with customers to understand system requirements and convey them to ensure optimal pump performance.
- Spearhead the creation of advanced cryogenic pump concepts to meet future business needs and explore new opportunities.
- Drive the development and protection of intellectual property, including obtaining patents and identifying alternative applications for new technologies.
- Lead mentoring and technical development activities, fostering knowledge transfer and supporting technical and leadership mentoring.
- Draft reports, product white paper and bulletins, and customer proposals, providing technical reviews and timely support for product launches.
- Participate in safety assessments, reviews, and support on-time project delivery and technical excellence.
- Oversee the implementation of new products, ensuring design for manufacturing and supporting commercialization.
- Train and mentor engineers and staff, reviewing and approving product designs, and coordinating activities with other units.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related STEM field with a minimum of 12 years of engineering experience or an advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Experience in cryogenic pump system architecture and design.
- Expertise in centrifugal and reciprocating cryogenic pumps, hydraulics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and related areas.
- Analysis experience in hydraulics, pipe, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, rotordynamics, structural, cryogenics, or rotating machines.
- Strong technical background in the oil and gas and clean energy industry, with exposure to Marine and Hydrogen pump applications as a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Leadership experience of engineering teams, including oversight, cost estimation, and reporting.
- Experience specifying requirements for development projects and executing programs for key milestones.
- Ability to identify and understand technology risks and drive evaluations for pump technical maturation.
- Demonstrated technical leadership in customer meetings, inquiries, and representation in industry forums.
- Holds patents, technical papers, or publications in a related technical field.
