Arete is looking for an Engineering Service Manager (ESM) to instantiate a team of highly skilled and capable Engineering Service Representatives (ESR). This role is crucial to the future expansion into servicing the systems that Areté builds both within the United States as well as foreign locations. The responsibilities involve generating the processes and procedures needed to provide critical and methodical troubleshooting and representation for Areté outside of our offices. A significant part of this role will be to set the precedent and demonstrate the qualities necessary for future Engineering Service Representatives. The supported systems may include various sensors, computing and processing systems, and the platform integration associated. Field activities may include system/firmware updating, field troubleshooting, hardware design update implementation, documentation, and communication. The management role will entail ensuring these activities are properly supported and effectively and consistently implemented across multiple locations and multiple ESRs. This position is based in our Northridge, CA or Tucson, AZ office, though an ideal candidate would be willing to work near Oxnard, CA or Whidbey Island, WA and located near Northridge, CA. Travel both within and outside the continental United States will be required, as needed. This is an exempt, supervisory, full- time position.

Primary responsibilities:
- Interfaces with system operators for maintenance and troubleshooting of fielded systems.
- Develops and maintains processes and procedures for Engineering Services in accordance with customer maintenance program requirements, such as, but not limited to, COMNAVAIRFOINST47090.2D. Supports technical proposals with Engineering Support Service capabilities, costing, and personnel and documentation requirements.
- Executes required Engineering Service activities until the time that workload and contracts allow for a team to be built.
- Hires and manages a team of Engineering Service Representatives to provide coverage and capability as required by associated contracts.
- Supports Program meetings through content generation and presentation both internal and external.
- Represents Areté core values both in the office and while working remotely.
- Works with engineering and production staff to ensure consistent and effective field work is performed.
- Prepares and presents technical briefings.
- Maintains detailed logs and notes of work and modifications performed for internal and customer reference.
- May require quick turn travel to ensure high uptime and availability of the customer capabilities.

- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Candidates without a bachelor's degree may also be considered if they possess relevant experience in the field.
- Active Top Secret / SCI and SAP access
- A minimum of 8 years in providing Engineering Support Services
- An understanding of high-performance computing (HPC)
- An understanding of VNIR/MWIR optical sensing systems
- Experience with Linux
- Process development and generation
- Ability to work independently and in a non-office / field environment
- Experience working in high-performance computing (HPC)
- Experience working with VNIR/MWIR optical sensing systems
- Proficiency in Linux and Bash scripting
- Active Top-Secret clearance with SCI access
- Current Polygraph (Counterintelligence)
