We are doing some exciting things with an aerospace and defense manufacturer in Westfield, IN who has asked us to help find an Engineering Project Manager. The company manufactures unmanned aerial systems for the military. As the Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing all activities related to schedule, scope, and resource management, with full accountability for working with the team to deliver projects successfully, within constraints. You will work closely with other disciplines as needed in a team environment that includes electrical, software, mechanical, and aeronautical experts, all working toward the company’s success.

Must be able to obtain DOD Security Clearance and meet ITAR compliance standards
Your Primary Responsibilities as the Engineering Project Manager:
- Lead and coordinate all activities of the cross-functional product development team through all phases of the developmental process.
- Develop a deep technical understanding of the product suite and act as product manager for development efforts aimed at improving those products in function, design, manufacturability, cost, or otherwise.
- Work with the cross-functional development team to define the project plan and establish clear objectives that will define the project’s success.
- Create and manage project, schedule, and cost baselines to ensure successful project delivery.
- Engage manufacturing and facilitate the transfer of product improvements to the manufacturing team.
- Coordinate procurement of any required parts for engineering and pre-production builds and manage supplier relationships as required.
- Produce project documentation, including project management plans, project timeline (Gantt), and manage engineering documentation (including design, model, SKU, and other technical documentation).
- Understand how project and product risk interact and manage both to produce safe improvements that meet requirements while ensuring things are done on time, on budget, and with available resources.
Required Skills for the Engineering Project Manager:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of work experience, including 5 years of engineering/project management experience. Preference given to advanced degree.
- Certified Project Management (PMP) experience preferred.
- Proven track record of successful project execution, with a preference for program management that includes managing several projects simultaneously.
- Diverse engineering background in multi-functional product development, with established product understanding.
- Preference for experience in resource management, with established leadership abilities to motivate others.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in real time and exercise judgment in a high-paced, high-stakes environment.
- A demonstrated ability to anticipate and proactively identify opportunities to mitigate delays.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, and Microsoft Project.
