Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager with expertise in injection molding to lead our engineering team. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all engineering activities at all three divisions, with a prime focus in our injection molding divisions. You will play a crucial role in managing projects, ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency, and driving innovation. A home office in either our Middletown CT injection molding facility or our Palmer MA injection molding facility will be required with some travel to the other site.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the engineering and tool room team:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to engineers and toolmakers.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Allocate resources and assign responsibilities to achieve project goals.
- Conduct regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Injection molding process management:
- Oversee all aspects of the injection mold build process, including mold design, development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address manufacturing issues and optimize production processes.
Project management:
- Manage the quotation process for all new products.
- Define project objectives, timelines, and resource requirements for all engineering projects.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Technical expertise:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of tool building techniques, and sourcing tooling overseas.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in injection molding technology and materials.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, as well as other departments within the organization.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide innovative solutions.
Team collaboration and leadership:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement engineering solutions that align with business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the engineering team.
- Encourage and support the professional development of team members.
- Promote effective communication and knowledge sharing among team members and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in engineering roles, with a focus on custom injection molding.
- Proven experience in managing and leading engineering and tool room teams., with a minimum of five years experience in a managerial role.
- In-depth knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, and materials.
- Strong understanding of quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Familiarity with CAD software and other engineering tools.
