Job Description
- As a Senior Automation Engineer focused on modernization initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in support of designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions that drive our modernization strategy. You will leverage your expertise to optimize existing systems, introduce new technologies, and ensure seamless integration across various platforms. Your work will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing manual efforts, and supporting our overall business goals. The qualified candidate shall have fundamental knowledge and experience in process / equipment for the cGMP manufacture, particularly in pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
- Automation Strategy and Development:
- Support the design and implementation of automation solutions that align with our modernization objectives.
- Analyze current systems and processes to identify automation opportunities and propose improvements.
- Identify challenges and requirements (packaging constraints, utilities, HSE requirements, flexibility need, etc.) related to automation projects
- Modernization Initiatives:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand modernization goals and translate them into technical requirements.
o Drive the automation of legacy systems, incorporating modern technologies and best practices.
o Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to enhance automation capabilities. - System Integration and Optimization:
o Ensure smooth integration of automation solutions with existing systems and platforms.
o Monitor and optimize the performance of automated processes, addressing issues and implementing improvements.
o Develop and maintain documentation related to automation processes and standards. - Collaboration and Leadership:
o Ensure implementation of new standard work on-line and support operators and maintenance technicians with the new way of working
o Work closely with stakeholders, including IT, operations, and business units, to align automation efforts with organizational goals.
o Lead projects and initiatives related to automation and modernization, ensuring timely and successful delivery. - Continuous Improvement:
o Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and modernization.
o Identify and advocate for opportunities to enhance automation processes and methodologies.
o Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Electrical or Chemical engineering or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in automation engineering, with a strong background in modernization and system integration.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as TSQL, VB, or C#.
- Experience with Industrial automation tools and Vendor platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation, TwinCat 3, Siemens, B&R, Elau).
- Experience or Core certification within Ignition version 8 or greater. Gold certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of Layer 2 Networking, VM Management, Windows based PCs
- Experience specifying controls hardware to fit application within Legacy systems
- Experience of implementation at scale of industrial projects
- Understanding of modern industrial controls development methodologies and architectures.
