POSITION SUMMARY
Pay range: $21.99/hr - $30.58/hr
Position Summary
The Engineering/Facilities Technician, under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and/or Operating Engineer, is responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs in both interior and exterior areas of the building. The role includes tasks related to building surfaces, flooring, lighting, office setups, and minor work order requests to ensure the facility is in optimal condition.
Essential Functions
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Building Maintenance. Representative tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Performing repairs on both interior and exterior building surfaces, repairs plaster, wallboard, and other standard wall surfaces, maintain painted surfaces to ensure clean professional appearance, repair or replace flooring, replace damaged or missing ceiling tiles.
- Shelving and Fixture Installation. Representative tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Hang and install shelving units, signage, pictures, and other necessary fixtures throughout the facility.
- Office Moves and Setups. Representative tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with office relocations, including coordination, moving furniture, equipment, and other materials as needed.
- Work order completion. Representative tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Respond to and complete minor work orders and facility maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner, orders and picks up supplies as needed.
- Performs other related duties and special projects, as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years’ experience in some type of engineering/facilities maintenance.
Licenses & Certifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old with minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the type of vehicle being driven.
- Must have a satisfactory driving record, which is defined as
- No more than one (1) accident and two (2) moving violations or
- Two (2) accidents and one (1) violation or
- No accidents and three (3) violations on or off the job within the past 36 months.
- No conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII), suspension, auto felony conviction or other serious violations within the past 36 months.
- Must complete a defensive driving course within the first 90 days of employment and yearly thereafter.
- Drives an organization owned vehicle as a part of their job and is considered a Category A driver.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of:
- Engineering and Facilities Maintenance.
- Regulatory standards.
- SDS program and appropriate practices for the safe application and appropriate ventilation during applications of paint, wall coverings and flooring materials.
- Appropriate coatings for various hospital areas i.e. labs, clean rooms, and public areas.
- Implementing policies / procedures in times of disaster or an emergency by being knowledgeable and responding properly to drills.
- Skill in:
- Effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Time management, prioritization, attention to detail, and multitasking.
- Color matching and blending new and existing surfaces.
- Proper methods of hanging cabinets, pictures, or articles on walls.
- Using proper body mechanics for tasks performed.
- Ability to:
- Demonstrate proficiencies in the use of all basic tools of the maintenance and painting trades.
- Work any shift as assigned.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Adjust to changing priorities and work demands.
- Recognize safety hazards and report them appropriately.
- Utilizes problem solving processes and tools to resolve complaints and/or concerns.
- Seek opportunities for professional advancement to improve or gain new skills.
