About the Job
Reporting to the COO the Director of Engineer makes recommendations in regard to the technological interests of the company. Responsible for evaluating a process' efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and safety. Identifies any areas that need to be improved or changed, with the ultimate goal of making processes safe, efficient and less costly.
- Collaborate with COO to define the technical strategy for company's overall production/ process objectives
- Participate and act on the of the Voice of Customer for market/ product development
- Expand into new applications through material development
- Create environment and facilities to support R&D of new applications and materials
- Assist in the collaboration with commercial team to define and build business plans. Establishes ROI for materials growth initiatives
- Help research any new technologies that may potentially increase its products or Services to market
- Create development and deployment of technology services that extends to its customers
- Competitive analysis – Review competitor offering across mechanical plastics to ensure it is appraised of any proprietary or custom material additives
- Drive operational efficiency and yields initiatives in production
- Control and optimize equipment reliability
- Overseeing operational material qualification, handling and control process
- Liaising with suppliers, customers and manufacturing/development staff
- Helps with the design review for new equipment proposals
- Oversee and manage key performance Indicators and metrics
- Instill a culture of Six Sigma within the organization
- Contribute to the overall Company’s image, presence and voice, in the market and among partners.
- Create relevant content for social media platforms relating to material applications and performance – helping drive upsell
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical Science or related field. Master’s degree strongly preferred
- 8 years working in a technological role.
- 3+ years demonstrated experience managing technical projects.
- Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history with technology.
- Preferred candidate will have a Plastics industry background, strong chemical knowledge and/or mechanical engineering.
