Position: Engineering Design Manager
Location: Tulsa, OK ONSITE
Comp: up to $140,000/yr
SBCS has partnered with a growing engineering firm who is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team. The Engineering Design Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the design process for our clients' projects. This includes overseeing a team of engineers and designers, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality designs, and collaborating with other departments to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design process for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget
- Oversee a team of engineers and designers, providing guidance and support to ensure the development of high-quality designs
- Collaborate with other departments, such as project management and construction, to ensure seamless integration of design with overall project goals
- Conduct regular design reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing innovative solutions to meet their objectives
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in design technology, implementing new tools and processes to improve efficiency and quality of designs
- Mentor and develop team members, providing opportunities for growth and professional development
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering design, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients
- In-depth knowledge of design software and tools, with the ability to stay up-to-date with advancements in the field
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience in the consulting industry is preferred, but not required

Key Contributions:
- Plan and direct activities of the Design section
- Plan, direct, document & implement all document filing/control activity
- Plan, direct, document & implement all design activity
- Plan, direct, document & implement all design standardization activity
- Support Manufacturing & Purchasing in design documentation needs
- Coordinate & control the standard design parts generation
- Administer the Design team scheduling
- Ensure all Design section activities are process-driven
- Deliver design output that is accurate, on time, and client-facilitating
- Appropriately staff & plan human / system resources for success
- Support Controls and Automation activities
- Administer and direct the Engineering Change Request (ECR) system
- Assist in Project Management support
- Performance reviews, training activities, and job development for staff
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for section per ISO 9001
Requirements
- Previous management experience that includes successfully leading and growing a diverse design department of 10 or more designers is required.
- The position requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of energy industry design experience; 5 years of which must be in energy process equipment.
- Qualified candidates must be forward-thinking self-starters with a steadfast vision of advancing the department with integrity.
- The ability to effectively communicate and defend design concepts both internally and externally is required.
- This position demands advanced relevant industrial proficiency in Mechanical Design using 3D software and document workflow/control, as well as advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Office.
- The ability to effectively demonstrate critical thinking skills while remaining creative and innovative, is required.
- Knowledge of all relevant manufacturing processes, current product designs, and industry design document standards is required.
- Manufacturing experience in an ISO 9000 environment is required.
Salary is up to $140K
