Position Overview:
We are on the lookout for an Engineering Department Manager to join our growing Transportation Systems Division. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic team, manage the engineering activities, and drive strategic product development initiatives to expand product diversification within the Transportation Systems Division.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and oversee project activities related to system engineering, ensuring alignment with customer technical specifications, project schedules, and contract requirements.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of strategic plans aimed at expanding and diversifying the product and service offerings of the Transportation Systems Division.
- Engage and assist in business development efforts to bolster the Division's strategic goals.
- Collaborate with MEPPI’s Parent Company to ensure adherence to technical specifications, develop technology transfer methods, and provide support for design, engineering, and qualification testing.
- Work closely with all departments to innovate and enhance existing products and services across all product lines.
- Support the sales team by contributing to engineering tasks and managing resource allocation for bidding processes.
- Develop and manage the Engineering Department budget effectively.
- Ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of engineering deliverables for project execution.
- Oversee the development and refinement of crucial engineering processes and procedures.
- Foster employee development through training, cross-training, and continuous education opportunities.
- Promote the Division’s goals and uphold a positive, professional image by engaging with other MEPPI departments and external contacts in a cooperative and timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering with a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience with a minimum 5 years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation systems and related technologies.
- Experience in product development, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on MS Office Products and engineering software.
