About the Job
Based at Yaskawa’s headquarters facility in Waukegan, IL, the Engineered Solutions Product Engineer provides high quality technical expertise to assist fellow YAI engineers and customers. The ideal candidate will display a driven attitude and capacity toward learning and mastering motion automation technology with engineering knowledge acquired learned at the university or through professional experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent related work experience
- Minimum of three years of experience with industrial motion control and servo system technology or related field; May consider new college grad based on internship experience, college performance
- Knowledge of programmable controls, digital communications, or microprocessors is desirable
- Familiarity with the usage of PC and major application software; Familiarity with CAD and programming environments of Visual Basic, C, Python, and Matlab desirable
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including presentation skills, highly organized and strong analytical skills
The Product Engineering group engages in many activities which make the job interesting and non-repetitive. Some detailed job responsibilities include:
- Implement and maintain the quality of custom mechanical systems.
- Participate in design reviews with design engineering groups.
- Create and review engineering drawings for dimensioning and GD&T accuracy, design intent, and manufacturability.
- Develop approaches to the solution of problems which require application of advanced technical knowledge.
- Participate in prototype builds and prototype testing.
- Create and document assembly procedures.
- Create test requirements, implement test methods, and document test procedures.
- Provide customer support of new product implementations.
- Provide activity reports on a regular basis to the supervisor or engineering manager.
- Participate in company-sponsored activities, including suggestion program, quality training, etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
