The ideal candidate shall successfully assist the 99th Readiness Division Directorate of Public Works with the execution and implementation of multi-faceted, comprehensive engineering base operations and sustainment program to ensure 99th RD Directorate of Public Works buildings and grounds are properly monitored and maintained to meet functional, appearance, safety, security standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes but not limited to:
Headquarters Engineering Technician shall utilize comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of, and skill in applying, technical engineering design and geometric principles related to design and construction to provide technical designs for facility repair and upgrade projects, review designs for conformance with current industry practices; ensure designs fit field conditions and comply with Federal, State, Local, Army, and Readiness Division requirements and policy, and perform technical evaluations of existing facilities and building systems.
Headquarters Engineering Technician shall cross collaborate with Dawson leadership, DPW leadership, field teams, and others as required to plan and develop technical project documents of broad scope and complexity. Assignments typically require the technician to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and record within a specification of work.
Project Development Services:
- Headquarters Engineering Technician shall provide project development services to include but not limited to receiving maintenance and repair requirements from field to complete a project package, commensurate with Army Corps of Engineers and/or Army Contracting Command-NJ requirements.
- Ensure submitted projects are technically correct incorporating industry and USACE best practices into design while ensuring energy efficiency.
- Assists in maintaining and developing the Annual Work Plan and the five-year plan.
- Technician shall be responsible for project research, development and quality control in accordance with industry and USACE standards. Technician shall be required to develop comprehensive project cost estimations using RSMeans and other data sources as appropriate.
- Headquarters Engineering Technician shall report once annually within the 99th DPW aera of operations to attend DPW training for no less than one week.
- Headquarters Engineering Technician shall when needed, travel to sites as required to conduct facility evaluations.

Requirements:
- Successful candidate must have complete familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite of products, specifically: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Successful candidate shall be proficient in technical writing pertaining to building and/or facility construction, operation, repair and maintenance. A writing sample shall be required at time of application.
- Successful candidate shall demonstrate experience, knowledge and understanding of building construction including but not limited to site work, foundations, building envelopes to include roofing, wall construction and finishing systems, flooring construction and finishes, doors, windows, and mechanical systems.
- Successful candidate shall demonstrate experience and knowledge of building system utilities including but not limited to natural gas supply, water, sewerage – sanitary and storm, electricity including PV systems.
- Minimum (5) years’ experience in project development or applicable equivalency required.
Project development experience shall include but not be limited to:
- Creation and review of pre-award technical contract documents.
- Creation and review of labor/material/equipment cost estimates.
Additional examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
- Drafting.
- Surveying.
- Creation and review of material takeoffs.
- Project Management
- Facilities maintenance/management experience.
- Educational coursework in the field of engineering, construction or industrial technologies.
