Who We Are:
Southwest Research Institute is seeking highly driven and skilled engineers for its Applied Power Division to develop prototype Unmanned Aerial Systems to solve national security challenges.
Objectives of this Role:
- Meet project goals by integrating existing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware, software, and/or sensors.
- Design custom solutions to meet requirements not satisfied by available COTS components.
- Prepare for, support, and document field events such as prototype testing and client demonstrations.
- Seek out opportunities to learn, grow technically, and professionally in support of our clients' diverse technical needs.
- Contribute to the culture of safety and excellence within every project team.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Support all aspects of the design life cycle, including: initial concept design, peer review, client review, prototyping, lab/field testing, documentation, etc.
- Interface with other engineers, technicians, project managers, and clients to ensure requirements of the system are successfully achieved in a timely manner.
- Prioritize and balance a diverse set of tasks for different projects simultaneously.
- Contribute to reports and presentations conveying design concepts, project status, and test results to managers, colleagues, and clients.
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree.
- Must be FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot.
- 1 years: UAS/UAV technology knowledge with UAS work experience, to include both design and hands-on experience.
- Parts and assembly modeling and tolerancing.
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Python; experience in C or C# or C++ code
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
