RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.
ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world’s premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.
Background Information:
This position supports the Radar Cross Section Team within the Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement Branch of the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) at Patuxent River, Maryland. ATR is the Navy’s East Coast open-air test range and provides real-time test and evaluation (T&E) services including data acquisition, instrumentation, data analysis, recording, test management, and airspace management to DoD and commercial customers. ATR deploys complex, cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind instrumentation and our engineers work in a fast-paced, highly rewarding technical environment at the forefront of naval T&E. Duties and Responsibility Requirements:
- Investigates, analyzes, designs, and evaluates military weapon systems using radar engineering principles.
- Prepares technical reports and documentation, develops and tests data processing software, and performs system integration, configuration management, and quality assurance testing.
- Collaborates with contractors, vendors, and Government representatives on engineering programs, handling test planning, execution, data analysis, and delivery.
- Evaluates radar signature data for accuracy and assists in pre-mission logistics.
- Utilizes radar system knowledge to enhance measurement capabilities.

Education, Certifications, License, and Skill Requirements:
- BS degree in an engineering discipline from a school of engineering having at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (or in related disciplines such as physics or mathematics).
- In lieu of 3 years of work experience, a MS Degree in an engineering discipline from a school of engineering having at least one professional engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (or in related disciplines such as physics or mathematics).
- Minimum of 3 years as a junior engineer in RCS engineering, focusing on development, testing, or evaluation of RCS instrumentation systems with emphasis on microwave radar devices and circuits.
- Experience in preparing technical test plans, conducting radar signature tests, certifying measurement systems, planning logistics, and analyzing radar signature data.
- Demonstrate familiarity with RCS characteristics of various targets (fixed-wing jets, propeller aircraft, rotary-wing aircraft, surface targets, and chaff countermeasures), including RCS amplitude, statistical distribution, modulation characteristics, ISAR imagery, and downrange profiles.
- Understanding of coherent radar processing, Doppler radar, and RCS measurements.
- Ability to identify RCS anomalies as genuine features or artifacts and assess signal and system status.
- Proficient in using MATLAB for processing, displaying, and analyzing radar phenomenology.
- Experience with development of new capabilities or improvements to RCS measurement systems.
- Experience with Jammer testing. Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license
Security Clearance:
- Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
- Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance
Work Conditions:
- Conditions may vary. Most work is performed in enclosed buildings, but some outside work may be required. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Applicant should be capable of lifting 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees. Vision abilities needed to perform this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
