Responsibilities:
- Performs functions essential to the implementation of CPRA’s overall coastal restoration and flood protection projects or programs through coordination with project partners such as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resource Conservation Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association-National Marine Fisheries Service, Federal Emergency Management Agency, LA Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Office of State Parks, Office of Risk Management, Governor’s Office of Homeland Security - Emergency Preparedness as well as other state or local governmental agencies.
- Serves as a high-level technical expert in the Regional Office of CPRA’s Operations Division employing experience and technical expertise in the design, construction, and operations and maintenance functions of a number of large, complex, important and high profile projects. The level of responsibility initially assigned will be based upon the applicant’s experience and is expected to progress as experienced is gained.
- Prepares scopes of work for various professional services (engineering, surveying), operations and maintenance tasks
- Reviews proposals and opinions of probable costs for professional services and for the performance of operations and maintenance contracts and tasks
- Prepares, reviews and monitors project specific task budgets
- Reviews and comments on design reports, construction plans and specifications and opinions of probable construction costs
- Performs contract administration and oversight for consultants engaged in engineering, surveying, and construction administration services on behalf of the agency
- Performs construction administration and oversight for large, complex, important and high profile projects, including regularly scheduled field/site visits to construction projects
- Prepares and provides status/progress reports on ongoing project activities
- Provides technical advisory support to local freshwater districts, levee districts, parish drainage districts, the Acadiana Watershed District (LA Watershed Initiative), and may attend and represent CPRA at board meetings as needed
- Prepares project Operations and Maintenance plans and associated 20-Yr budgets.
- Reviews and monitors budgets in relation to project cost share agreements, amendments, as well as other Interagency Governmental Agreements
- Prepares annual Operating Budgets for assigned projects
- Presents requests for funding adjustments at various Task Force/Trustee Implementation Group meetings.
- Monitors, maintains and updates project records
- Performs site inspections for projects to evaluate Operations and Maintenance (O&M) needs and prepares an associated O&M report with proposed O&M activities
- Drafts correspondence directed to private owners, consulting engineers, local state and federal government agencies
- Conducts hurricane damage assessments and periodic on-site inspections of levees, floodwalls and associated infrastructure and prepares an associated inspection report

The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256 annually.

Engineer 3 $2,671.20
Engineer 4 $2,952.00
Engineer 5 $3,158.40
