Primary Responsibilities:The Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing distribution center operations across multiple sites by applying their expertise of Red Prairie/JDA/Blue Yonder Labor Management, time studies, AutoCAD, and Lean engineering principles. This role will play a critical part in improving efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enhancing overall performance within our distribution network. Essential Functions:DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements labor standards, accurate labor forecasting, performance tracking, and workforce optimization by utilizing Blue Yonder or other labor management software.
- Conducts time studies to establish accurate baseline data for operational processes and identifies areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
- Utilizes AutoCAD software to design and layout efficient distribution center floor plans to optimize space utilization and flow of materials.
- Maintains Engineered Labor Standards through the following processes:
- Develops engineered labor standards for new processes and facilities.
- Conducts time studies to update and validate engineered / RE standards (MSD / PST / MOST).
- Manages existing standards and periodically verify standards and observation methods.
- Identifies and implements improvements in preferred methods, procedures, equipment, or workflows.
- Conducts supervisor and employee meetings to review enhancements to procedures, equipment, and/or standards.
- Maintains LMS by ensuring any changes to existing standards or new standards are accurate and updated.
- Maintains complete records of all time studies or other data used to change standards.
- Maintains Labor Standards to reflect changes in preferred methods, equipment, or standards.
- Stays up to date with industry trends and best practices in distribution and process engineering to proactively identify innovative solutions.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Proficiency in using JDA/Blue Yonder Labor Management software for labor forecasting, scheduling, and performance management.
- Strong knowledge in conducting time studies, process analysis, and workflow optimization.
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD for creating efficient distribution center layouts and floor plans.
- Knowledge of Lean principles and experience implementing Lean projects.
- Ability to manage and lead projects across multiple locations ensuring consistent implementation and successful outcomes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Access).
- Ability to travel 25%-70% required with periodic, multi-state travel which may include transport by airplane, rail, rental, or personal motor vehicle.
- Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on JDA Labor Management, time studies, AutoCAD, and Lean engineering principles.
- Lean training and/or certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work performed is typically performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
- Must sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- May spend long periods at a desk or computer terminal.
- May use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment during workday.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
- Work is fast paced; occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
