As an Engineering Intern at Horrocks, you will be exposed to designing local and interstate roadways, utility design, hydraulic analysis, land development projects, construction administration and observation. Responsibilities, Expectations, and Duties:
- Partner with other Horrocks practice leaders to assist on multi-disciplinary project pursuits
- Develop and refine engineering plans and models to create finished ground surfaces using AutoCAD Civil3D
- Geometric design of roadways creating horizontal and vertical alignments and cross-sections
- Prepare design plans and cost estimates in accordance with local agency standards
- Prepare final designs, including quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications for infrastructure projects.
- Participate in teams to deliver infrastructure projects
- Support hydrologic/Hydraulic analysis studies
- Prepare supporting calculations, construction specifications, and permitting in various jurisdictions
- Maintain effective communications with clients and project teams
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.)
- 0 to 4+ years’ experience in engineering consulting
- Proficient organizational, verbal, and written communications skills
- Ability to interact with multi-discipline team members
- Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion
- Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually/remotely
- Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices
- Must be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing priorities
