Job DescriptionSummary
The General Maintenance Engineer I or II is willing and able to perform basic building maintenance projects.

Essential Job Functions
• Able to perform basic building maintenance, i.e. repairs, small furniture repairs, painting touch-ups, etc.
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Maintain a polite and courteous attitude toward hotel guests
• Maintains clear and uncluttered work areas
• Respond and attend to guest repair request
• Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
• Identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for building
• Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners; replace electrical switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Display basic computer skills
• Make Manager aware of guest's comments and complaints
• Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook
• Report to shift on time.
• Comply with all policies and procedures for the Engineering Department, The Little Nell, and Aspen Skiing Company
• Is familiar with hotel fire and safety procedures. Assist in emergency and security procedures as directed by management
• Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Knowledge of basic tools and the proper employment of such tools
Additional Information
Supervision Given and Received
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Received: Works under direct supervision of Director of Engineering. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
• Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
• Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 75 lbs. individually or with assistance
