Position Summary:Under general direction of the General Manager, the Engineer is responsible for the electrical and building maintenance, including, but not limited to, carpentry, plumbing, fire suppression, HVAC, refrigeration, door locks, hardware, painting, and lighting at the SoFi Center – TGL Arena. As the Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of the Center’s infrastructure. Your role will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement of plant operations to enable an efficient operation and maintain a comfortable environment for everyone within the boundaries of the facility performs related work as required.
This role pays an hourly rate of $30 to $36.

About the Venue:
Oak View Group is the venue manager and food and beverage provider at the SoFi Center, a first-of-its-kind venue located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL on the campus of Palm Beach State College. SoFi Center will be the home of the TGL Golf League, founded by Mike McCarley, Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy, TGL presented by SoFi is a new golf league, combining advanced technology with teams of top players from the PGA TOUR for two-hour weekly competitions in prime time starting in January 2025. The arena will seat about 1,500 people and featured matches between 6 teams for the inaugural season.
Responsibilities:- Oversee overall management of services and activities involved in the maintenance and operations of the facility including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction trades, grounds keeping and capital projects
- Operates diesel powered electrical generator to provide emergency electrical power during power outages or curtailment
- Perform event related duties as assigned
- Participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, minor electrical and plumbing repairs to expedite the return of equipment or auxiliary systems to operational status
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment and auxiliary systems; oils and lubricates fans, motors, pumps and generators, cleans screens, strainers, burners and automatic controls
- Clearly , effectively , and timely communicate work issues with staff
- Repairs water pumps, fans and motors and replaces defective parts in accordance with provisions of prescribed preventative maintenance.
- Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
- Assist in establishing and monitoring work performance and safety standards. Conduct facility inspections.
- Ensure compliance with the facility’s maintenance standards and reporting requirements
- Assist in the development and administration of the facility budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and obtain approval for all maintenance related expenditures; receive and maintain supplies; make recommendations for, and implement approved budget adjustments as necessary
- Oversee the set-up of utility services for events
- Maintain cost records of work performed and prepare cost estimates as requested; prepare invoices for services rendered that are to be used in event settlement. Track, record and report labor allocations in all areas of functional responsibility
- Develop and maintain accountings for labor, materials and utilities by event and cost category
- Maintain hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits as required
- Assist in developing and maintaining Capital Improvement Project reports and recommendations for the facility
- Assist in administering maintenance and service contracts (i.e., HVAC, building automation, vertical transportation, foliage maintenance, fire systems, generators, etc.)
- Solicit and review cost estimates. Oversee and coordinate the work of outside vendors and contractors
- Order parts and supplies. Control and monitor departmental inventory of tools, supplies and equipment
- Responds to service calls and carries out necessary repairs.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Adjusts, dismantles, repairs and assembles equipment.
- Assists with craft services such as refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, electronics, minor carpentry and painting.
- Responds to trouble and emergency situations and takes necessary precautions for the well-being and protection of property and occupants.
- Install electrical required for events and clients.
- Operates equipment including but not limited to scissor lift (if licensed), fork lift (if licensed), electrical equipment, power tools, and general tools.
- Conduct visual tours and inspections of machinery and equipment.
- Program, operate and maintain computerized HVAC, fire alarm, field equipment, and lighting systems.
- Schedule, maintain, and repair all SoFi Center wide exterior and interior lighting systems.
- Work with Operations Managers to maintain riding scrubber, vacuums, and other in house equipment. Keep accurate logs per unit.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Assist in the major servicing of air conditioning and operates, cleans and performs minor servicing of air conditioning equipment.
- Two (2) or more years of education and or full time work experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of, centralized air-conditioning or electrical power generating equipment and auxiliary systems
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have availability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
- High school diploma (or equivalent) preferred
- Possession of a second-class, stationary engineer’s license strongly preferred
- Possession of Universal CFC license highly desirable
- Possession of a first-class, stationary engineer’s license is highly desirable
