Position Summary:
Medeco Security Locks is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the New Product Development Team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional responsible for all electrical design functions to support our rapidly expanding electronic security product lines. This position will work on-site at our offices in Salem, VA.
Essential Functions:
- Hardware and firmware design for microcontroller-based products.
- Create/complete electrical component and system-level designs.
- Create/complete Bills-of-Materials (BOM’s), technical documentation to support electrical designs.
- Successfully transition new products from concept into production through support, training, and cross-departmental communications.
- Manage, participate in and lead development teams developing early prototypes with potential customers.
- Create technical design specifications and test plan requirements.
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 years work experience – New product development background preferred.
- Hardware design experience with digital and analog circuits.
- Experience in design of wireless RF communications.
- Experience in PCB design, layout and assembly preferably using Altium software.
- Ambition, energy, and drive to continuously improve processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel approximately 10%
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with battery power optimization, low power electro-mechanical actuators, micro-motors, solenoids.
- Circuit design and imbedded code development utilizing MicroChip PIC, ATMEL, ARM, microcontrollers.
- A working knowledge of .NET, TCP/IP, Ethernet, communication protocols.
- Experience in manufacturing and testing. (HALT, Standards, etc.)
- Project management skills.
- Strong team player with excellent time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills.
- Innovative, motivated, and process-oriented professional

Office/Professional:
- Ability to walk, stand and sit for period of time.
- Ability to remain seated for long periods of time while working on a computer or documentation, etc.
