Job Summary: As a Performance Engineer, you will work on the development and testing of engines and aftertreatment systems, in addition to the calibration, validation, and development of modern engine and emissions control systems. You will assume a significant role, as part of a team, with increasing emphasis on testing, analyzing, identifying, and applying engineering techniques to solve problems and making recommendations.
Job Duties:
- Test and verify engines, fuel systems, and aftertreatment systems on test engines and field applications
- Engine and system level performance to optimize engine performance and after-treatment hardware
- Plan and manage engine testing, DOE, combustion recipe development, data collection and processing for steady-state, transient, cold, altitude, and emissions certification
- DFMEA of product, system, and/or technology problems and recommending appropriate action, owning problem resolution, and documenting results
- Support engine build and field service groups
- Product development and continuous improvement issue management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field with 2-3 years of experience performing engine test and validation in the heavy machinery, automotive, or equivalent industry; OR Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related field with 1-2 years of experience performing testing and validation in the heavy machinery, automotive, or equivalent industry
- Experience/familiarity with heavy duty diesel engines
- Ability to lead/drive resolution of complex technical issues
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data to make decisions related to engine performance and emissions
