This role will primarily work with our Energy & Utility clients across a portfolio of major generation, transmission and distribution capital projects.
The Project Manager will lead and motivate a team in the day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations/management, field staff and other duties required to plan and execute projects. The Project Manager oversees a project from inception to completion and may perform the role of Program Manager, as well as support and provide guidance to others as required by the specific project.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Provide direction and oversight for major projects for contract types including Engineer-Procure-Construct, Design-Build, General Contract, and Owner Integrated as well as various contract cost models like Lump Sum, Cost Plus and Open Book to Closed Book, etc.
- Project Planning: Define appropriate project scope, align with corporate strategies, ensure coordination with key initiatives, and assure dependencies are identified/addressed. Define deliverables, success metrics and key milestone schedules. Develop work plans, budgets, and cost/benefit analysis.
- Project Management: Ensure successful delivery of committed project benefits and operational metrics in a dynamic/complex environment. Independently manage detailed project plans to the approved scope/schedule and provide cross-functional tracking as needed. Define and manage a regular status reporting process to monitor progress and resolve risks to goal. Continually identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Financial Management: Function as project controller. Manage project financials including budgeting, forecasting, and actuals tracking. Facilitate RFP and contract management processes. Review actuals versus planned budget throughout project life cycle to identify variances and recommend corrective action.
- Resource Management: Forecast, schedule, and manage resources, both internal and external. Manage assigned contracts and associated payments/performance requirements. Develop and adapt a comprehensive resource plan for a matrixed team of diverse talent to maximize skills and minimize cost. Provide training and coaching to less experienced project team members.
- Scope & Risk Management: Manage scope change process for large transformational project or best practices for business area in addition to own projects. Identify risks and issues throughout the project and create mitigation strategies/contingency plans.
- Relationship Management: Communicate project status to all levels of the organization. Participate in public meetings/forums, prepare documentation, and provide written and oral testimony that supports regulatory approval and community relations objectives. Establish effective collaborative working relationships with external and internal organizations.
- Inspect/review field construction activities, in conjunction with the construction oversight manager, process change requests and project reports (scope, schedule, financial, etc.).
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required (master’s preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in project management, ideally within the utilities industry
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and project controls methodologies
- PMP Certification and OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred
- Comfort handling ambiguity and managing multiple assignments
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to effectively expand professional networks through strategic relationship building and engagement
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to do what it takes to deliver excellent work product and customer experiences
- Ability to commute to various clients in the Denver metropolitan area

The estimated hourly rate for this position is $100-140/hr.
