Position Summary:
Essential Job Functions:
- Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
- Select and enforce the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all personnel involved with switching and testing procedures. Determine appropriate CAL rating for all exposed individuals during energization, testing and shutdown activities
- Cooperate with all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.
- Act as a role model for Wanzek’s vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with Wanzek’s ways of working while encouraging others to do so as well.
- Care for and sustain business relationships with multiple clients.
- Review project exhibits, electrical drawings and specifications as they pertain to safe and successful energization of project electrical systems.
- Prepare and issue energization procedure and switching orders
- Review project SOW (Statement of Work) and plan energization of plant based on project milestone schedules and available back feed power dates
- Review testing documentation with the team to insure passing results.
- Review LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) plan for project and ensure alignment to energization plan
- Travel to project as needed for pre-energization/energization meetings with client, final walk downs of electrical systems, energization of electrical systems.
- Primary switchman for all energization activities
- Coordinate construction activities in regard to safe energization and operation of all electrical apparatuses within the project scope and boundaries.
- As needed, serve as mentor and trainer for Electrical Construction Managers
- Ensure site has proper materials ordered and scheduled inspections as necessary for safe energization and operation
- Maintain construction schedule, identify and solve problems related to energization of the site
- Use and maintain schedules to measure time and production to meet requirements
- Ensure that proper documentation has been completed, hard copies and electronic copies maintained in a well-organized manner as defined in the scope of the project requirements
- Perform duties required of an Electrical Level I,II CM when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years experience in the electrical construction field or combination of 5 years professional training and 5 years field experience
- Journeyman Lineman or Journeyman Electrician with min. 5 years experience with voltages in excess of 1000V AC.
- Substation, t-line, and/or previous solar construction experience
- Must be able to obtain Wanzek QEW (Qualified Electrical Worker) certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must be able to read analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations. Etc. (electrical system drawings, schematics and technical drawings)
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form to large employee groups, owners or engineers
- Basic organization skills
- Understand NEC, IEEE, IEC and applicable local codes and regulations
- Attend Wanzek QEW (Qualified Electrical Worker) yearly training
