Here at M Health Fairview, we're seeking an Endoscopy Technician to join our team at University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank! The Endoscopy Technician is an integral part of the GI team within the Endoscopy department who under the guidance and direction of the nursing team or physician accomplishes a variety of delegated nursing assistive tasks such as equipment and supply set-up, assisting with collection of specimens, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and scopes, exam room prep and clean-up including the documentation of cleaning and disinfection processes. They will complete direct patient care duties to ensure optimal patient outcomes and an exceptional patient experience within the OR.
This is a .9 FTE (72 hours per 2 weeks) position with an on-call rotation. This role will predominantly work day shift, but may move to some evenings if hour needs change. Weekends as needed.

Responsibilities/Job Description:Job Expectations:
- Completes tasks as delegate by RN or physician with defined role functions and competencies.
- Assists in data collection to identify the patient’s needs, problems, concerns or human responses (e.g. vital signs, blood pressure).
- Assist with the implementation of the established plan of care, as delegated,
- Assist the physician and nurse before, during and after the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, handling of devices used during procedures including forceps, snares, tomes, baskets and balloons under the guidance of the procedure physician.
- Reprocesses and maintains equipment according to standards of infection prevention. policies/procedures and manufacturers’ instructions.
- Provides and maintains a healthy and safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with regulatory agency requirements and standards set forth by professional organization and institutional policies,
- Acknowledges the diversity of patient.
- Participates in ongoing continuing education.
- Maintains knowledge of current practice issues related to the field of gastroenterology.
- Complies with legal and practice standards inherent in patient care (e.g. patient’s bill of rights).
- Conducts oneself in an ethical and confidential manner.
- Participates in performance improvement activities as directed, collaborates with the care team to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Communicates effectively with patient and inter profession team to ensure quality and continuity of care ensuring high quality and patient experience outcomes.
Required
Education
- Graduate of an accredited: Surgical Tech, or Endoscopy Tech or Instrument Tech Program or specialized training/education in gastroenterology.
License/Certification/Registration
- BLS Certification from the AHA
Preferred
Education
- Specialized training or education in gastroenterology.
License/Certification/Registration
- AAMA or CSSD Certification
