Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Endoscopy Technician to join our endoscopy team. The Endoscopy Technician will assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all equipment is prepared, sterile, and functioning properly. The ideal candidate will have experience in a clinical setting, a strong knowledge of endoscopy equipment, and a commitment to patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procedure Preparation & Assistance:
- Prepare, set up, and test endoscopy equipment and instruments prior to procedures.
- Assist the physician and nursing team during endoscopic procedures, such as upper endoscopies, colonoscopies, and other gastroenterology procedures.
- Handle specimens obtained during procedures, ensuring proper labeling and transfer to the laboratory as per protocols.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during procedures and report any changes or abnormalities to the healthcare team.
- Equipment Sterilization & Maintenance:
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopy equipment and instruments according to facility protocols and infection control standards.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on endoscopy equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues to the appropriate department.
- Organize and maintain the inventory of endoscopy supplies, ensuring that equipment and supplies are readily available and well-stocked.
- Patient Preparation & Support:
- Prepare patients for endoscopy procedures, providing guidance on what to expect and answering any questions they may have.
- Assist patients in positioning for procedures and ensure their comfort and safety throughout.
- Provide post-procedure care instructions and support for patients and families.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and equipment usage in the electronic medical record system.
- Adhere to all infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the endoscopy department.
