ARA Diagnostic Imaging is seeking an experienced EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) to join our growing team!
** $2,500 SIGN ON BONUS for external applicants.
Summary:
Support technical and medical staff by ensuring consistent patient workflow and assistance with medical care as outlined in the Clinical Operating Guidelines. (COG’s)
Essential Functions:
- Maintain consistent clinical workflow by performing duties in a manner that helps to facilitate uninterrupted patient care
- Identify patients and review their exam requisition for consistencies with the requested examination
- Perform insertion and removal of IV catheters per policy
- Performs i-Stat Creatinine testing
- Escort patients and provide assistance in preparation for their exam by
- assessing, and obtaining a relevant patient medical history
- screening for any contraindications
- setting up the exam room in preparation for the requested exam
- assist with injection of contrast material
- monitoring the patient post exam
- Monitor and maintain adequate levels of equipment and supplies
- Provide patient advocacy through direct patient care, and meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient
- Proficient in radiology information system (RIS)
- assist with rescheduling procedures as needed
- assist with the daily QA of the patient schedule to minimize scheduling conflicts and verify order clarification
- Understands and consistently practices MRI safety per MRI safety policy:
- assist with MRI safety screening of patients and visitors
- assist with confirming MR compatibility of implanted items
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein
EMT Specific Functions:
- Assists Paramedic and/or RN with medical care as outlined in COG
- Ensures emergency equipment is in proper working order per established policy.
- Operates all emergency equipment, supplies, and monitoring devices including crash cart defibrillator, MRI Safe patient monitors, suction units, blood pressure monitors, oxygen regulators, etc.
- Responds to any medical emergency situation in the clinic, including allergic reactions, and takes appropriate action. Transfers care to paramedic if higher level of care is required.
- Monitors and assesses all extravasations. Determines severity, contacts radiologist and/or Paramedic Medical Director for further instructions. Completes all required documentation and follow-up per established protocol. Transfers care to paramedic if higher level of care is required.
- Informs and prepares patients for special procedures.
- Monitors patient’s vital signs per established policy.
- Assists in verification that emergency equipment is in proper working order per established policy
- Meets established QA benchmarks for charting and documentation
- Maintain required skills and knowledge base, subject to review by the Chief Medical Officer
- Assists with maintaining records and controls required by state and federal accrediting and governing agencies
Education/Experience:
Successful completion of a Texas Department State Health Services approved EMT program. Certified Texas Emergency Medical Technician; CPR certified. At minimum, one year of EMT experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Working conditions:
Moderate amount of kneeling, reaching, and stooping. Constant amount of walking, standing, and sitting. Ability to assist patients, up to 650 pounds, from sitting, standing, and lying positions with the use of proper lifting methods (i.e. assistance of other personnel, use of provided lifting devices such as Hoyer lift, etc). May be exposed to negligible electromagnetic radiation. Must have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
