JOB OVERVIEW:
​​The EMT shall provide work with the Veterans Transportation Service to provide transportation services to veterans for inpatient ambulatory settings, facilitate the transportation of ambulatory, wheelchair, and or gurney bound patients and perform ongoing patient care during transport. ​
- Transport patients to and from vehicles and their healthcare appointments.

- Assist or provide roundtrip transport of patients from their home to the healthcare appointment on VA campuses.
|
- Verify patient manifest and complete paperwork, like trip tickets and records, and record fuel amount and type.
|
- Provide preventative maintenance checks and services for the patient transport vehicle.
|
- Follow safety procedures, utilize safety equipment, and monitor work environment to ensure the safety of patients and employees.
- Act according to established protocols if there is an unusual or life-threatening situation and prevent deterioration of patient condition.
- Interact with patients in a courteous and respectful manner.

- Coordinate transportation activities with Veterans Transportation Staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE |
- Valid California Department of Transportation Class "C" Commercial Driver
- License (CDL)
|
- Possess a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification
|
SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS - Adhere to State, local, and traffic laws and ordinances.

- Licensed to operate passenger ambulance bus
|
- Familiar with National Department of Transportation and multi-state
- guidelines/policies governing motor vehicle operators and be well versed in every aspect of
- patient safety during transport

- Ability to communicate in English
