Job Summary and Qualifications
The clinician acquired clinical knowledge and experience to facilitate arranging the transport of patients being discharged from all HCA facilities within the markets served. The position collects clinical information relative to a patient’s status and transport request and then facilitates arranging transport with transport providers that match the patient's clinical needs. The clinician will collaborate with the hospital staff and transport companies for timely and appropriate transport arrangements. This position will use customer service skills and professional communication standards to positively interact with peers, customers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities
- Performs all patient logistic center functions for arranging discharge transport in a timely, customer centered professional manner with the aid of a computer database consisting of facility service profiles and healthcare information.
- Transport coordination specific to the discharge of patients from HCA facilities.
- Establish and maintain a high degree of awareness and knowledge of hospitals within the markets served and services provided by the multiple transport companies.
- Exhibit and model exceptional customer relationship behaviors, including telephone contact with all of the call center' customer groups (i.e. any employees at the HCA hospitals, dispatch for transport companies, and fellow employees including PLC coordinators).
- Maintain professionalism and customer- centric communication with challenging callers.
- Ensures accurate and concurrent data collection and maintenance in both patient record and center workflow systems.
- Proficient in navigating and documenting in all technology platforms and other call systems as needed.
- Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple calls efficiently and prioritize need for arranging transport based on ETAs requested by facility.
- Maintain a high level of communication with HCA facilities including calling back ETAs and updating delayed ETAs after transport arranged.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of all state/federal regulatory requirements pertaining to ambulance transports
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with hospital staff and transport companies.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology relevant to transport needs.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of hospital and clinical operations and patient care practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Internet searches, and relevant data bases.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to follow through on issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
- Ability to work effectively with other employees and external parties.
Experience / Education / Certification Requirements
- 10 Hour Shifts -Required
- 1:00pm - 11pm EST
- Minimum 2 years of clinical or hospital experience - Required
- ED and acute hospital experience - Highly Preferred
- Call Center/Transfer Center experience - Preferred
- EMT Certificate - Required
- Certification/Licensure: EMT Basic, Advanced, or Paramedic licensure - Required
