Responsibilities
As a Employment Counsel, you will be responsible for:
1. Providing advice and counsel to management on a wide range of employment issues, including employee relations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and employment law.
2. Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
3. Conducting thorough and objective investigations into employment-related complaints and concerns.
4. Providing training and education to management and employees on employment-related topics.
5. Collaborating with other members of the legal and human resources teams to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
6. Managing outside counsel in employment litigation matters.
7. Keeping abreast of changes in employment law and advising management on necessary changes to policies and procedures.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Employment Counsel position will have the following qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in employment law, preferably in the healthcare or medical industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice and counsel.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on a thorough understanding of the issues and the applicable law.
6. Proven experience in conducting employment-related investigations.
7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
8. High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
9. Experience in managing outside counsel and litigation matters.
10. Previous experience in a healthcare or medical environment is highly desirable.
