Summary:
- Employee Relations Manager/Sr. HR Generalist position
- Hybrid schedule: 2 days per week onsite
- Hours: Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Investigations & Compliance:
- Conduct confidential investigations into misconduct (harassment, discrimination, etc.).
- Gather information, interview individuals, analyze data, and prepare documentation for disciplinary actions.
- Recommend actions based on facts, company values, and coach management through implementation.
- Minimize risk through fair, legal, documented, and unbiased investigations.
- Receive, investigate, and document internal reporting hotline cases.
- Facilitate terminations (letters, meetings, documentation).
Employee Relations & Training:
- Evaluate situations requiring knowledge of company policies and processes.
- Provide feedback and guidance to management on best practices and fair treatment.
- Influence managers, build relationships, and gain buy-in in sensitive situations.
- Partner with the Learning department to develop and facilitate ER training (accommodations, violations).
Legal & Policy Compliance:
- Partner with internal/external legal counsel on ER matters.
- Identify, coordinate, and modify cases as needed.
- Ensure stakeholders are advised of recommendations to achieve business objectives while minimizing risk.
- Collaborate to ensure consistent application of company policies and contracts.
Unionized/Works Council Environments (if applicable):
- Facilitate resolution of grievances, disputes, and employee concerns.
- Conduct investigations and coordinate arbitrations as needed.
- Interpret union-management agreements and represent management in grievance settlements.
- Work may be directed by Industrial Relations/Works Council Manager (certain locations).
- Interact with employees, union representatives, and/or Works Council to build rapport and foster collaboration.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage medical accommodation processes (with other stakeholders).
- Facilitate discussions with HR Business Partners and medical experts to find solutions.
- Advocate for employees and balance company values.
- Document and record approved/denied medical accommodations.
- Educate leaders on corrective action and annual review processes (emphasizing early intervention).
- Advise management on resolving employee behavior and performance issues.
- Support managers in developing/reviewing corrective action plans (including performance improvement plans).
- Consult with managers on driving a culture of high performance and engagement.
- Document and record employee actions in appropriate systems.
- Complete special HR/ER projects (defining objectives, setting schedules, conducting research, delivering on time).
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Maintain accurate case management records in systems for reporting and compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required in Human Resource Management, Organizational Psychology, Business, or a related field.
Certification (Preferred):
- SHRM certification
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience as an HR Generalist, Employee Relations Manager, or equivalent experience in a dynamic global organization.
Skills:
- Investigations & ER: Demonstrated experience managing investigations and employee relations issues.
- HR Knowledge: Good knowledge of HR processes gained in a dynamic organization.
- Global Experience (Preferred): Experience in a global company with a matrixed reporting structure.
- Multi-Location Support (Preferred): Experience supporting multiple locations.
- Languages (Plus): Bilingual/multi-lingual skills.
- Legal Compliance: Strong knowledge of employment-related laws at the county/regional level. Maintains awareness of legal requirements and government reporting regulations impacting HR functions, ensuring policy and procedure compliance.
- Technology: Ability to utilize case management software and HRIS systems.
- Case Management: Ability to manage complex employee relations cases and investigations.
- Client Focus: High customer focus.
- Results-Oriented: Results-oriented with a sense of urgency.
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Relationships: Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to positively influence others.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Labor Relations (Preferred): Labor experience strongly preferred in unionized locations.
- Conflict Resolution: Skilled in conflict resolution techniques.
