About the Job
Coordinate, supervise and instruct employees and community members on a variety of appropriate fitness programs including; Classes, and incentive programs under the direction of the Employee Wellness Manager. Manage daily duties necessary in the operations of the fitness facility. Manage intern program. Assist with biometric screening campaign for employees and spouses.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(60%)* Employee Fitness administrative duties: accountable for maintaining member files including applications, physician referrals, computer updates, FOB keys, billing, financial deposits, taking payments, and compiling reports on attendance and membership dues. Member communications, retention & recruitment. Creative program design & implementation. Answer phones and return phone calls. Gym supervision and monitoring desk during assigned times. Report concerns and maintenance issues to appropriate party. Maintain high degree of customer service and satisfaction and professional conduct according to MyMichigan Health Values.
(30%)* Fitness consultation: Evaluate health history; provide training, consultations and orientations to employees, transitional patients, weight management, WellSport and community members.
(10%)* Employee Fitness exercise class instruction duties: design, coordinate, and instruct participants in various exercise classes. Track participant attendance, retention and payment.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee Fitness incentive program duties: design, coordinate and promote incentive programs.
Track participant attendance, progress and payment. Manage internship program.
Liaison for area colleges and universities. Design and evaluate program and intern.
Conduct biometric screenings for employees and spouses including: blood pressures, BMI, waist circumference, and coaching.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
Other Information:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Certification from American College of Sports Medicine or National Strength and Conditioning Association, or comparable organization required.
Tuberculosis (TB) testing done annually according to MIOSHA (Michigan Occupational Safety Health Administration) and Exposure Control Plan standards required.
One year of experience in fitness center environment required. One year of experience monitoring blood pressure, performing HRA’s (Health Risk Assessments) and teaching fitness classes preferred.
Certification with WellCoaches preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
