Position Summary:
Join Appalachian Regional Healthcare System as an Emerging Healthcare Professional (CNA or EMT) and gain invaluable clinical knowledge while advancing your education in healthcare. This dynamic role allows you to work under the supervision of a licensed nurse, providing hands-on experience in diverse healthcare settings.
The position requires flexibility to float between ARHS facilities, including Appalachian Regional Behavioral Health Hospital, Appalachian Regional Medical Associates, Cannon Memorial Hospital, and Watauga Medical Center. You’ll perform various duties aligned with your qualifications, such as Unit-Based CNA, Medical Office Assistant (MOA), Behavioral Health Technician, Telemetry Technician, or Unit Secretary.

Compensation:
Starting pay begins at $22.00 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education.

Requirements for Success:
To maintain this position, the following conditions must be met:
- Work 36 hours per 6-week schedule.
- Commit to 1 holiday and 1 special event day per year.
- Attend General Orientation (Monday) and Nursing Orientation (Tuesday).
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
Licensure:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA 1 or 2) OR Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate) licensed in North Carolina.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association at the time of hire.
Experience:
- Experience in a healthcare setting (preferred but not required).
Skills:
- Exceptional communication and customer service abilities.
- Proficiency in typing, computer use, word processing, and basic math.
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability.
Physical and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting/standing, lifting (up to 30 lbs), frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and fine motor tasks.
- Work Conditions: Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, hazards from equipment, and unpredictable hours, including holidays and weekends.
