A vacancy exists for the position of EMERGENCY UTILITY WORKER – Eastern Maintenance Division – Willow Grove, PA.
Applicants for the position must have the following qualifications:
- Be capable of functioning independently and have and maintain a valid operator's driving license.
- Position requires swing shift work, which includes weekends and holidays.
- Be familiar with Eastern & Western Division territories.
- Can investigate and properly evaluate service leaks and main breaks.
- Can set, read or change a meter up to 1" including AMR's.
- Can read Company plans and such other forms or records that are pertinent to the performance of the job.
- Be physically capable of operating valves, fire hydrants and the ability to shut down main breaks.
- Can lift up to 75 lbs.
- Can communicate with the public and present a neat personal appearance.
- Can operate the various locating devices pertinent to the job.
- Can respond to "ONE CALL" requests effectively. Clear, mark and enter response in UTILISPHERE computer program.
- Be familiar with PUC regulations, particularly as they apply to termination of services, and all aspects of Company policies.
- Be available to deliver such items as deemed necessary by other Departments, due to availability of customers.
- It should be noted that this job posting requires wearing of a Company supplied uniform.
- Can use a computer to review plates, plans, tap cards, and e-mail.
- Be familiar with GIS, AIMS, UTILISPHERE
- Assist other Departments make confined space enter.
- Flush Hydrants and blow-offs.

A written examination will be given along with a field test. Calculators are permitted.
The hourly rate of pay is ##$40.04. A shift differential applies to work performed on second and third shifts.
All employees hired or entering the bargaining unit on or after December 15, 2022, will receive four dollars ($4.00) per hour less than the classification wage rate. The wage reduction will be returned in one dollar ($1.00) increases once a year over a four (4) year period. Employee will receive annual contract increases.
Employees must be employed more than twelve (12) months in a Department to be eligible to apply for a job outside of the Department. However, employees with twelve (12 months) or more in the union but with less than twelve (12) months in a Department may apply for a job classification that pays a higher hourly rate than the classification the employee currently holds. An employee will be limited to two (2) higher wage classification advancements in a twelve (12) month period. If there are no applicants with more than the required twelve (12) months in the department, then employees with at least 12 months in the bargaining unit may apply for the position even if it is not for a position with a higher wage classification.
