Summary:
Vighter is recruiting large number of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) or Paramedics to provide patient care, medical service and medical support within the Customs and Border Protection – Immigration and Customs Enforcement mission, with dozens of locations across the United States’ Southern borders, to include California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Florida. The EMTs and Paramedics will be working alongside uniformed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents/ Officers in secured federal facilities along the southwest border of the United States. They will obtain medical histories and complete necessary paperwork on detainees entering the facilities including vital signs (Blood Pressure, Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, Pulse Oximetry), performing manually and electronic as applicable. Any medical concerns, abnormal findings or complaints are referred to a Physician or an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The EMTs and Paramedics will also be responsible for ensuring patient comfort, explaining procedures, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with all law, statue and healthcare regulations. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding all recognized national standards.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Provides emergency care to help stabilize employees or visitors for life, death, loss of sight/limb situations until Emergency Medical Services arrive.
- Performs medical history and physical assessment; determines chief complaint.
- Performs vital signs electronically and manually, as indicated.
- Knowledge or and ability to apply professional principles, procedures, and techniques for patient care.
- Initiates and maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply.
- Works within licensure/certification, Scope of Practice, Guidelines for NR EMT/NR Paramedic, as provided by CBP contracted employer and the certifying authority or agency.
- Maintains compliance with standard operating procedures and protocols.
- Performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and the system of records management.
- Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody.
- Attends general staff meetings and participates with medical quality management initiatives and reviews as applicable.
- Assures a safe and clean working environment and assists in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste on a regular basis.
- Assists with medical appointments, medical/mental health emergencies, documenting all care provided, orders received, and/or any referral made.
- Ensures any medical orders received or standing orders are implemented.
- Coordinates healthcare needs of the patient with other staff members or custody as needed, to include referrals to offsite care.
- Performs record keeping functions in accordance with records management policy, basic records management training, and program policies.
- Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient care.
- Performs head to toe assessment, documenting findings, and completing any needed treatments within the scope of practice. Refers any urgent needs to a higher level of care if needed.
- Restocks supplies as needed, assists with maintaining inventory, maintains equipment in proper working order, to include any manufacture recommended preventative maintenance.
- Participates with general staff meetings during normal duty hours.
- Coordinates referrals to offsite facilities, performs emergency care if needed.
- Communicates an end of shift report to the oncoming shift.
- Participates in Medical Quality Management/Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities or initiatives as needed.
- Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.

- Provide training and support to remote employees on timekeeping systems and processes, including troubleshooting issues and providing guidance on using timekeeping tools effectively.
- Stay informed about changes in timekeeping technology, regulations, and best practices, and make recommendations for updates and improvements to timekeeping processes.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
Education:
- Successful completion of a program for EMT ‘s or Paramedic’s located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. Territory.
- Program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care as a licensed/certified NR EMT or NR Paramedic in the United States.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Application of medical principles, clinical procedures, and techniques.
- Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.
- Basic safety, infection control, quality assurance, records management, statistical information gathering, etc.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred, but not required.
Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:
- Generally speaking, locations supporting the CBP-ICE mission set are open and active 24/7/365, to include days, nights, weekends and all holidays.

Travel:
- As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Generally, travel is limited to commute from residence to the worksite. Commute is non-compensatory. All official travel is government-funded.
