UC Health is hiring a full-time Emergency Building Maintenance Technician for the Emergency Maintenance department at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The Emergency Maintenance Department will support the Medical Centers and deliver high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

To perform inspections, installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance, calibrations, modifications and additions to the electrical/mechanical systems and equipment associated with the Plant Operations & Maintenance Department as well as any and all union trade related duties.

To perform inspections, installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance, calibrations, modifications and additions to the electrical/mechanical systems and equipment associated with the Plant Operations & Maintenance Department as well as any and all union trade related duties.
- Performs emergency maintenance duties to ensure the safety and comfort of patients, visitors, staff, and building/equipment integrity. Assumes responsibility to represent hospital maintenance, and documents all emergency calls, inspects and corrects system problems in a timely manner, directing all uncorrected calls to both the relief shift and his/her supervisor. Has the authority to call in a PO&M staff member or outside vendor or contractor as conditions warrants per protocol.
- Makes routine checks of operating equipment, checks all equipment rooms, elevators and emergency generators, documenting important data by making rounds of the facility. Maintains and/or operates several hospital systems (Simplex, Swisslog, Andover, Siemens, Versa Trak, POMs, Medical Gases, Elevators, Dumbwaiters, etc....). Performs preventive maintenance, maintains records of maintenance and repairs, and replace and/or order medical gas cylinders.
- Interprets prints, manuals, diagrams, facility site drawings to determine layout, location, parts, and supplies needed to complete assigned work orders/tasks in an efficient, safe and timely manner. Responsible for maintaining stock and ordering parts.
- Accurately documents time and work performed on each task worked on.
- May be required to inspect work performed by outside vendors and contractors ensuring all work meets or exceeds all federal, state, and city codes and standards.
- Assists other trade workers in performance of maintenance, renovation, and projects when needed.
- Maintains housekeeping conditions as prescribed by area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Journeyman preferred but not required.
- 2-5 years preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of computer operated and/or mechanical systems required.
- Must be able to work independently without supervision, have the ability to prioritize multiple issues, and address them quickly.
- Skilled in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and the operation of all electrical/mechanical systems and equipment preferred.
- Hospital experience/knowledge preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specification manuals preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations preferred.
