| Role Description: | VisionThe ES team will be responsible for assisting the EMC Design Engineering team with product testing and debug, new lab bringup and maintenance, and test equipment verification and calibration testing at the Austin EMC lab. Additionally, they will support teardown, rework, and soldering for consumer electronics products.Key BenefitsExpanding EMC test coverage in Austin EMC labsEnabling consistent lab maintenance and verification processes at Apple internal labs in AustinIn ScopeWork closely with Apple engineers to execute test plans per EMC standardsPrepare test reports and communicate data to Apple engineersReview EMC test data, prepare test reports, and debug anomalous results in collaboration with Apple engineersWork with Apple facilities teams to plan deployment of new EMC test equipment and chambersPerform periodic calibration and verification measurements for EMC test equipmentMonitor new test equipment delivery and assist in installationPerform rework on consumer electronics, including soldering and mechanical teardown and re-assemblyTrack equipment calibration schedules and coordinate with third party partnersSuccess Criteria/Definition of DoneCompletion of EMC validation for all development builds for supported projectsCompletion of lab bringup and implementation of verification and calibration processes at Apple Austin EMC Labs in RV04 and PL01Preferred Technical RequirementsExperience testing and debugging prototype consumer electronics, including software/firmware and EMC issuesFamiliarity with EMC test standards including EN55022, EN55032, IEC61000-3-3, IEC61000-4-2, IEC61000-4-3, IEC61000-4-4, IEC61000-4-5, IEC61000-4-6, IEC61000-4-11, and ETSI 301 489-7Experience supervising and performing EMC testing, with a focus on quality assurance and process optimizationFamiliarity with lab equipment and maintenance procedures, including calibration and verification of ESD guns, surge testers, receivers, oscilloscopes, SAs, VNAs, cables, amplifiers, LISNs, and CDNsExperience in product testing and validation at contract manufacturers and at ISO 17025 accredited labs is a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English with experience generating technical reportsExperience reworking electrical components as small as 01005Expectations by PhaseDiscovery/Assignment PrepTest Development and Lab BringupTest Execution and Equipment VerificationData Analysis and Equipment Calibration Process DevelopmentReport Generation and Data ReviewAssumptionsInitial request for 1x ES in Austin to support existing Apple teams RisksSignificant investment needed to train new ES (1-3 months), churn could hamper critical data collection |
