Job Overview
The Project Engineer - EMC is responsible for providing engineering expertise to evaluate conformance of medical / lighting / laboratory / household devices, industrial equipment, and IT technologies to industry standards, creating evaluation reports and test plans, conducting and/or witnessing testing, resolving technical and/or administrative issues and providing Intertek customers with superior customer service.
Scope of Work
- Conduct evaluations of equipment as required, to determine compliance with applicable standard(s)
- Plan, coordinate and execute project work and keep the client informed
- Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions
- Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing within the scope of the project
- Set up and operate equipment under test (EUT)
- Perform testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests include but are not limited to: radiated and conducted emissions, surge test, electrical fast transient, electrostatic discharge test, radiated and conducted immunity, voltage dips and interrupts.
- Set up and operate standard test equipment including, but not limited to: power analyzer, oscilloscope, load banks, test receivers / spectrum analyzer EMI equipment, multi-meter, digital multimeter, surge generator. Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
- Communicate with clients, sales personnel, and management throughout projects
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or similar education combining experience and education
- 1+ year directly related experience, RF experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Prior project management experience is a plus
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate, up to 25%.
- Demonstrated experience with working with and testing RF networks and/or systems. Or experience in testing to EMC standards for US / International countries.
