Embedded Software Engineer - Troy, MI (Hybrid/Open to Remote Applicants)

We are looking to add a long-term consulting resources to an onsite team at a well-known industry in the fire alarm and smart building systems industry to produce high-quality software solutions. Our team is composed of seasoned and passionate professionals who are committed to innovation and excellence. This role will play a key role in modernizing and migrating our customer’s existing code/tech stack.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

What You Will Need:



+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering and/or Computer Science.


+ Recent experience as an individual contributor embedded software engineer.


+ Experience in build and migration engineering.


+ Excellent knowledge in multithread and multi-process development.


+ Experience with Yocto Framework.


+ Experience migrating code from GitHub to GitLab and updating scripts as needed.


+ Strong experience in C/C++ development and Python scripting for automation.


+ Mastery of Linux IP networking stacks.


+ Excellent knowledge of Linux device drivers.


+ Excellent knowledge of Ethernet protocol stacks, VLANs, PTP, etc.


+ Working experience with secure communication over Ethernet.


+ 5+ years of embedded software development experience.


+ Knowledge of formal development methodologies.


+ Experience with versioning tools such as Git.



Preferred Qualifications:



+ Working experience with commercial Ethernet switches (Marvell, Micrel, Broadcom).


+ Experience with Linux client/server development.


+ Knowledge of socket programming and encryption.


+ Familiarity with packet generator and packet inspection tools (XENA, Wireshark).


+ Experience with issue tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Integrity).


+ Experience with Atlassian tools.

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $85.00/hr.
