Together, let's advance the world of minimally invasive care.Job DescriptionPrimary Function of Position The Ion endoluminal system is Intuitive's new robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer.
This position will play a key technical role during the development of a novel new surgical robot system.
The engineer will be expected to work with an incredibly talented team to develop the robotics software platform. The successful candidate must excel in a diverse team environment, be able to drive to solutions from rough requirements, and have a commitment to high quality product. A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required. Essential Job Duties Work on a cross functional team to develop technical specifications and evaluate design trade-offs – specifically in platform/infrastructure software Design and development of product-focused, rock-solid, C and C++ software in a heterogeneous, multi-processor real-time-embedded environment Develop software: Customize and productize operating system distributions Create device drivers Design and implement multi-threaded, distributed system C++ applications Contribute broadly to many areas of software development, including but not limited to: Extension of current frameworks to new processors and operating systems Development of research prototypes used to evaluate new product concepts Distributed communication subsystem development Work with various engineering disciplines as a software resourceClinical study support, and participation in product demonstrations, as requestedContribute through design, V&V and transfer to manufacturing activitiesQualificationsRequired Skills and ExperienceComputer Science or Computer engineering backgroundPassionate about developing cross-platform, object-oriented C++ code (11 and higher)Experience with Python3 and bash scripts.Experience writing software following scrum framework within a team environmentStrong ability to isolate and debug software problems Willingness to work in Linux and Windows environmentsStrong intuition for, and interest in, designing systems for testability and scalabilityExcellent communication skills Excels in working in team environmentPreferred Skills and Experience Experience developing for embedded Linux devices Experience working on product-focused designs in a team environment Linux and Windows development experienceExperience with automation CI/CD, unit testing.Understanding of commonly used messaging and RPC frameworks and their associated tradeoffs for use in distributed embedded systems Demonstrated experience in and comfort with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing Experience designing software products in an FDA or other regulated industry or for mission critical applications; comfortable with concepts of design input, design output, traceability, risk analysis, and mitigationsAdditional InformationDue to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
