Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This role is in Rancho Bernardo, CA and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support program and business needs.
Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off.
The position may have some Hybrid work available.In this role you will design, develop, integrate, and test software for our end-user customers and businesses. Specifically, you will be responsible for the design, development, and administration of embedded and real time systems. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as with Systems Engineering, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment. Essential Functions:Work independently in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels.Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of software products to our customers.Operate in an embedded technology development environment working with real time operating systems for use in flight and mission critical systems.Work in Agile Scrum teams to develop software products for multiple software baselines.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 8 Years experience; OR a master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 6 Years experience; OR a PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 4 Years experienceAbility to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance and Special Program Access.Experience managing the Software Requirements process and their Verification and Validation.Experienced with C++ and Python.Experience with Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD).Experience with developing software used for one of the following real-time applications: flight critical software, Safety critical software, medical software, or mission critical software.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with CoreVMS and RTCF.Experience with three of the following tools: Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, or Coverity.Experience with multiple serial bus data interfaces (including UDP/IP over Ethernet), communicating and managing the health of external devices.Experience with one of the following real time operating systems: Wind River VxWorks, Green Hills Integrity, or Realtime Linux.Experience with Agile software development, embedded system programming, software integration and testing.Experience with the airworthiness process.Able to design new software applications in a layered software architecture.Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.Strong understanding of PowerPC or ARM assembly language.Able to performs maintenance on software architectures.Can identify moderate execution defects by only reading code.Knowledge on how to perform maintenance on OS partition and isolation architectures.Experience with leading a medium size (6-10) technical team with technical decision making.Active Secret DoD Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
