Job Details
Overview:
As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of embedded firmware for electronic controls used in commercial laundry equipment. Our products are utilized worldwide in various settings, including laundromats, hotels, hospitals, universities, apartment complexes, and fire stations. This role is based in Ripon, WI.
Responsibilities:
- Lead firmware projects and manage large-scale outsourced firmware development initiatives.
- Develop deep expertise in the microelectronic product portfolio.
- Define firmware architecture requirements.
- Create detailed design specifications for microelectronic controls.
- Develop comprehensive test specifications for microelectronic controls for use by contract manufacturers.
- Validate functional test equipment produced by contract manufacturers against microelectronic control test specifications.
- Maintain configuration information for the microelectronic product portfolio.
- Participate in cross-functional activities as part of product development, including team meetings, product/feature definition sessions, pilot builds, test instructions, and user manual reviews for microelectronic controls.
- Author engineering change notifications.
- Prepare detailed test lab orders for execution by lab technicians.
- Investigate and resolve firmware issues related to microelectronic control operations, driving root cause analysis and resolution.
- Conduct firmware development and testing in simulators and lab environments.
- Identify opportunities for quality enhancement and cost reduction.
- Provide production support as needed.
- Manage vendor access to licensed developer applications and development tools/equipment.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of programming experience.
- Previous project management experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in firmware development, particularly with C coding; experience with Lua and UI designer applications, such as Storyboard, is a plus.
