Volt is immediately hiring for a Bilingual Eligibility Clerk Specialist in Visalia, CA!
As a Bilingual Eligibility Clerk Specialist you will:
- Perform duties related to taking applications for housing.
- Process applications and determine eligibility for housing assistance.
- Conduct briefings and verify applicant information, including contacting employers, health, and welfare agencies.
- Determine tenant eligibility for continued occupancy.
- Compute income, calculate rent, and verify necessary facts for subsidy and rental assistance eligibility.
- Enter data into the computer system for reports, subsidies, or rent processing.
- Explain conditions of occupancy, eligibility requirements, and program regulations to applicants and participants.
- Conduct annual, interim, and special housing reviews with tenants and participants; process rent/subsidy changes as needed.
- Establish and maintain various program files.
- Prepare and compile statistical reports and forms, including HUD and other required program reports.
- Assist with audits and file reviews.
- Help train newly hired staff and provide backup support to other clerks as needed.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Must pass a 45WPM typing
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two years of experience in a role involving eligibility clerk functions, including public reception, interviews, data verification, rent calculations, and report preparation.
- Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
- Knowledge of:
- Modern office methods, practices, and equipment.
- Financial and statistical record-keeping.
- Clerical work of average difficulty, including accurate mathematical calculations.
- Public relations, including greeting the public with tact and courtesy.
- Maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
- Conducting interviews to extract personal information for determining eligibility for housing assistance programs.
- Ability to follow established procedures and policies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Clear and legible writing skills.
- A strong sense of public service and flexibility.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office software.
