POSITION TITLE: Elementary School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/certification preferred: Master's degree
Texas Principal Certification preferred
- A minimum of three years of leadership in education.
- Prior principalship experience preferred.
- Effective communication skills.

- Effective organizational skills.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITITES:
The Principal is responsible for providing effective instructional leadership and is accountable for the school’s operation. Major responsibilities include the educational program, professional and classified staff, student development, facility maintenance and management, fiscal management activities, and developing effective community relations.
Major Responsibilities and Campus Level Duties:
Manages the day-to-day operation of the campus
Coordinates and manages data collection, coordinates reporting functions, and handles correspondence pertaining to the campus Coordinates human resources, the employment process and recommends to the Superintendent individuals to be employed at the campus, teacher aides, secretaries, custodians, maintenance and mechanics and other support staff personnel
May serve as the Superintendent’s designee in hearing campus grievances as outlined in the grievance procedure
Administers and evaluates all classified personnel functions
Manages and coordinates the administrative and supervisory evaluation system
Manages and coordinates purchasing procedures for the campus
Be on call 24/7/365 for emergency situations
Performs other duties as assigned

Copier, personal computer and appropriate software, typewriter, printer, calculator, fax machine and audio-visual equipment

Mental Demands: Reading; ability to perform basic mathematics; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to attend to detail; maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; work with frequent interruptions; must be able to understand the logical flow of information within and among several computer programs
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Prolonged use of computer and works with frequent interruptions.
- Reviews lesson plans and confers with teachers to link teaching/learning activities to the educational goals.
- Develops and demonstrates effective communication through regular staff meetings, weekly building communications, newsletters, and personal contacts.
- Develops and follows a plan of self-improvement which promotes both campus personal and organizational goals.
- Oversees custodial, cafeteria operations, and other support services to maintain an efficient, clean, safe, attractive, and functional facility.
- Ensures that transitional programs are in place for incoming students.
- Develops a comprehensive co-curricular and extra-curricular program that supports the develop of students
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Lead in the development, implementation, and communication of educational goals.
Provide strong and positive educational leadership in organizing, developing and administering the instructional program of the assigned school.
Utilizes test scores to identify areas of strength and weakness. Communicates this information to staff for curriculum goal setting.
Provide leadership in developing the necessary climate for change and growth within the school.
Supervise teaching staff and programs in accordance with building and district philosophy.
Assist the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources in selection, assignment, orientation, and evaluation of all personnel for whom she/he has supervisory responsibility.
Provide for effective and efficient day-to-day operation of school facilities that are conducive to a positive learning environment.
Demonstrate effective organizational skills and completes duties promptly and accurately.
Establish and maintains effective discipline in the school and promotes a positive school climate.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participate in the process of district high school study group ensuring that building goals are congruent with the district strategic plan.
