Job DescriptionThe individual will assist with the development and implementation of elementary school quality programs that enrich the students intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Teacher will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children by successfully implementing the K8 curriculum and daily program activities.
Teacher will be a team player, a great communicator and will embody the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile and the values and mission of La Scuola.
Daily Expectations:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Daily presence (supervision and leadership as Recess Lead role) on play yard during K-8 outdoor recess sessions during school day.
- Hold other staff & faculty on recess duties accountable for punctual arrival, and attention to supervision and protocol.
- Collaborate with Student Support Team (Lower School Head, Dean of Students, Social Emotional Specialist and Learning Specialist) to establish both engaging outdoor play experiences and recess expectations for the students at the start of the year.
- Support with creating, introducing and posting outdoor visuals to promote safe, joyful and creative play.
- Communicate routinely with classroom teachers with any observations, questions or concerns about students.
- Communicate routinely with Specialists for outdoor play ideas - PE, art, garden, music, drama and Tinkering.
- Lead class meetings as needed throughout school year, in collaboration with teachers, to ensure students understand expectations and know their role in safe outdoor play and interaction.
- Lead students through established conflict resolution practices as needed, and set up outdoor environment to reflect practices.
- Participate in other supervision roles such as lunch duty, PE support or other classroom support.
- Collaborate with Student Support Team to research, recommend, obtain, and maintain outdoor recess materials.
- Create a Settimana page (google site) once per month for classrooms, highlighting outdoor play and recess experiences and growth through content and photos. Templates, sample Settimana and access to a camera and computer will be provided.
- Participate in scheduled events such as: Back to School Night, Spring Curriculum night and professional development days.
- Communicate with front office, and complete comunicazione alla famiglia forms in any incidence of a physical injury on the play yard.
- Communicate with front office, student support team and classroom teachers if there are any instances of heightened verbal or physical conflict.
Extended Care Teacher M-F 3:00 - 6:00pm, except Wednesdays 2:00-6:00p. After school instructors are energetic and engaged individuals who are interested in facilitating a safe, fun, and collaborative environment with both children and co-instructors.

- Monitoring behavior both in a classroom and outside
- Planning and implementing special activities
- Responding to incidents and emergency situations quickly and calmly
- Enforcing school policies and safety regulations
- Maintaining a clean environment in all Extended Care spaces, indoors and outdoors.
The Extended Day Teacher will assist the Director of Auxiliary Programs with the implementation of a quality program that enriches the students intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. The Extended Day Teacher will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children by successfully implementing the Extended Care curriculum and daily program activities. The extended day teacher will be a team player, a great communicator and will embody the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile and the values and mission of La Scuola.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Implements the program curriculum as planned by the Extended Day Program Coordinator to ensure a quality experience for all participants.
- Works with the Extended Day Program Coordinator to implement engaging, developmentally appropriate educational enrichment curriculum and programming which expands and supports student learning experiences beyond the classroom.
- Develops and maintains professional working relationships through effective and timely communication with the program coordinator, the Lower School Head, other program personnel, and other staff members, such as the Head of School, teachers, and food service personnel.
- Works cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis.
- Assists the program coordinator in addressing the ongoing needs of the students and parents.
- Implements program procedures effectively to ensure the safe being of all participants.
- Observes, monitors, and participates in children’s play activities.
- Promotes a safe and healthy environment based on safety standards set within the program.
- Efficiently and consistently redirects inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior. Communicates with program coordinator, parents and teachers on discipline issues occurring in the extended care program.
- Supports the emotional and social development of children.
- Reports any concerns and questions regarding the program (students, parents, equipment needs, supplies, other staff, volunteers, etc.) to the program coordinator and the office manager.
- Maintains accurate and organized records such as attendance records, timesheets, incident reports, and all other paperwork as instructed by the program coordinator to ensure program compliance and quality operations.
- Helps prepare snacks for the children when needed and clean-up the snack area.
- Assists in the cleaning and straightening of the room and equipment before, during, and after the program when needed. This may include sweeping, washing tables, chairs, and locking the building at the end of the day.
- Continues professional development by attending staff meetings and professional development days.
- Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Spends quality time with students to foster their intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development through the duties outlined above.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Native-like fluency in English required
- Italian language proficiency preferred
- Enthusiastic, child-oriented, and creative individuals with a desire to work in a bilingual environment
- Problem-solving, creativity, multitasking skills
- Excellent attendance and punctuality records
- Experience with IB a plus

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in the United States.
In addition, the final candidate will need to pass both Criminal Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance and a physical exam, and provide a recent copy of a negative TB test and other immunization records.

Estimated annual salary range for this part time position: $22 - $26 per hour depending on credentials, qualifications and experience.
